HAPPINESS

What is happiness and where does it hide?
Is its gateway narrow or is it very wide?
Is it sometimes large or very small?
I think that happiness is for us all.

Sometimes it's a walk on a quiet beach,
Sometimes it's in the arms of a young child's reach,
Or maybe a smile that's given for free,
Or maybe that patch of shade 'neath your favorite tree.

Yes, happiness comes in many forms,
For some it's the beauty they find in storms,
Or thunderous waves crashing into stones,
Or a bird's sweet song with all of its tones.

Happiness can be found where ever you go,
So don't go searching for it high and low,
It's all around you; it's in the air,
Right down to the feel of a comfortable chair.

You can have it just by facing the sun,
Or doing some kindness just for fun,
But happiness is just a state of mind,
So you can't catch up to it from behind.

It starts from looking for beauty in life,
As opposed to pain, the turmoil and strife,
Then you'll start to see the wonders you've got,
Instead of looking for what you have not.

Then surely a smile will cover your face,
As you discover happiness all over the place!
