SUNFLOWER The sunflower stands so erect she's elegant and she's one of mother earth's more spiritual plants. Constantly facing the light from above She carries a message of beauty and love She takes from the earth, the water and sun But gives much more back before she is done. Her uses are varied, you can eat her seeds raw or crush them into meal like and Indian squaw. She's been made into hair oil to pretty our heads and those fibrous stocks made a great "prairie bed". We can take yellow dye from her beautiful rays and use it to brighten our lives day to day. Her leaves and her seeds make a fodder for stock and she gives up her nectar if you'll just pick her lock. She's important to Russia so the poultry gets fed and the people still use it for making their bread. They get oil for cooking and oil for soap and her fibers will surely be used for making rope. So we've something in common if we just use our head We could take back some missals sending sunflowers instead She's the Kansas State Flower and Floral Emblem of Peru But she's mostly just Beauty Spirit sends me and you.
